Chief Marketing Officer, Iberia software outsourcing
Hands-on and remote. The role covers software development and nearshore companies delivering from Spain and Portugal, 20 to 300 people, and you take 30% of the revenue from every new customer you bring in, from their first invoice.
Write to [email protected]. Two things go in the first message, and they are at the foot of this page.
- The arrangement
- A contractor now, a founder if day ninety goes well. Not employment either way. You invoice us from wherever you are, and your citizenship, your work rights and the country you live in make no difference here, because there is no payroll to be on and no permit to hold.
- The role covers
- Software development and nearshore companies delivering from Spain and Portugal, 20 to 300 people.
- Days 1 to 90
- No fixed pay. You get 30% of the revenue from every new customer, from their first invoice.
- Whose customers
- The 30% is on the new customers you bring in.
- Day 90
- We look at the numbers together. If they are there you come in as a founder: equity and a fixed monthly retainer, and the 30% rolls into that.
- If we part ways
- The 30% on every customer you brought in keeps paying for six months. Nothing else is owed either way.
- Your time
- Everyone here has other income and puts in their own time. We expect the same from you. We all go full-time when the pace justifies it.
- Budget
- Tools only. Marketing spend comes out of revenue, so the first ninety days run on channels that cost time.
- The team
- There is no marketing team to inherit. You build the machine yourself.
- Where you are
- Anywhere in the world. The only fixed thing is the hours: CET and WET hours, because that is when your buyers are.
1What we sell
SignalsAPI watches hiring activity in real time.
A software company tells us which companies it wants as clients, say UK, DACH, Nordic and US product companies of 50 to 500 people, and which roles it can staff from its bench or hire for, say backend, mobile, data. When one of those companies opens one of those roles, the sales team has it in the CRM or inbox, with the hiring manager attached, and pitches an engineer or a team while the role is still fresh, manually or automatically.
Nearshoring, dedicated teams, project work: same trigger. The trigger is the advert going up, so the demand that never appears as a public role is the demand this does not see.
2Proof
This is already selling, and you would be joining customers rather than a deck.
- 2023
- Selling since
- 20
- Customers: ten on retainer, ten more since it became SaaS
- 23%
- Of first-demo attendees become paying customers
- 1M+
- Hiring signals a month, filtered to each client's criteria
Most of the first ten retainer clients were software development outsourcing companies. That segment is where SignalsAPI started, so the role sells back into its original market. The ten customers since, the ones who came once it became SaaS, are mostly recruitment agencies.
Coverage here is live. Over a million hiring signals a month across the US, UK, DACH, the rest of Europe and Australia. Your buyers chase clients in the UK, DACH, the Nordics, France and the US, all of it already covered, so you would be selling something that already runs rather than something promised.
The integrations exist. The major CRMs, the main outbound platforms, and company and contact data providers.
Nobody owns this globally. Competitors are small and single-country; we run in every market. Bootstrapped, no outside money, and not raising.
3The job
Conversion is not the problem. Reach is.
Cold outreach, free demos, free setup with billing that starts once results show: all of it converts. What we do not have is a repeatable, scalable way to bring new customers in. That is the job.
What it comes down to. Get SignalsAPI in front of the people who have a reason to care, and get them to the free stuff: a demo, ten free signals, a free setup. From there our numbers take over.
The number we watch is companies in the profile below who book a demo or claim their free signals. We set the 90-day target with you in week one, rather than handing you one now.
4Who has a reason to care
Founders and heads of sales at software development and nearshore companies of 20 to 300 people.
Delivering from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, Lisbon, Porto or Braga, and selling north: the UK, DACH, the Nordics, France, Benelux and the US.
The ones hunting new logos, not the ones living off two anchor clients. A shop with two long-standing accounts and no new-logo motion has no use for a trigger that finds new clients, and ruling those out is most of the targeting.
Proximity is their pitch, and it is running out of road. Same time zone, same working week, a two-hour flight: every one of their competitors says it too. A founder who has felt that stop working is the one who listens here.
5Whether this is you
Someone who already knows how these founders think and how they win northern clients.
- You have sold nearshore or outsourced delivery from Spain or Portugal to UK, DACH, Nordic or US buyers, founded a shop, or sold to the founders who do.
- You know the Clutch game, the nearshore listings these firms buy into, and which of them actually return a client.
- You know the circuit: South Summit in Madrid, 4YFN in Barcelona and Web Summit in Lisbon, and which LinkedIn voices founders here read.
You work in Spanish or Portuguese as well as English. That is a requirement, not a preference: Madrid and Lisbon are two markets rather than one, and a founder is approached in the language they run the company in.
We will not tell you where their attention is. You should already know. That is the whole reason we are looking for a person rather than running a campaign.
What disqualifies you is needing fixed pay from us in the first ninety days. Nothing here pays until a customer does, which is survivable only because something else covers your overhead.
How to apply
Confirm the terms, then answer one question.
- The terms. Confirm the ones at the top of this page work for you, as written.
- The question. How would you get the attention of the founders who have a reason to care about SignalsAPI, and how far does that scale in the first ninety days?
A few lines is plenty, and no CV is needed for the first reply. If what you have is a question rather than an answer, send that.
Write to [email protected] so the thread stays in one place.
